PUBLIC ART

Many people don't expect contemporary art to be about beauty, but we're still human and the hunger for beauty is part of being human. Beauty is not so much a quality in the object beheld as the effect on those that behold it.

Serenity

Hyde Park, London UK

Serenity is a striking bronze sculpture located on the south side of the Serpentine, near the Diana Memorial Fountain.

The sculpture is inspired by the Egyptian goddess of nature. It was designed by British sculptor Simon Gudgeon and was installed in the park in 2009.

Serenity was donated by Simon Gudgeon and Halcyon Gallery to help raise over £1m to build the The LookOut, an education centre in Hyde Park. At the base of the sculpture you can see 1,000 plaques, dedicated to supporters of the appeal.
